Michael Fox, in his own words…

Photography has always been much more than a profession to me – it is a calling.
From my very first Kodak Brownie, at age seven, through my coursework at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, I have been inspired to use the eye of my camera as a means for visualizing artistic compositions.

I have never viewed photography as a mechanical task. I approach every shoot in a different way: with the aim of not merely memorializing important moments in my clients’ lives, but with the goal of capturing a range of emotions and expressions in my subjects. After a recent photo session with a thirteen year-old boy, his mother thanked me for simply capturing the quiet essence of the young man she had raised. It was, she said, something she had never seen in other photographs. For me, there was no higher praise.

I have had the pleasure to photograph a host of wedding, anniversary, and religious ceremonies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and have been the primary photographer for a number of meetings and conventions throughout the United States.
My recent work has also included documentary and portrait work for business and personal websites.

Over the years, the technology of my craft has evolved. So, as a member of the
Northern California Professional Photographers (NCPP) and the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), I strive to remain current with the changes that
the digital age has brought to the profession. I am also pleased to have had opportunities to lecture to audiences on photographic techniques, as well as to provide private photographic tutoring.
